The Iberoamerican Chitin Society is proud and pleased to invite the international scientific community as well as industrials either producing, working or interested in basic science and technological development and applications related to chitin, to participate in the 6th Iberoamerican Chitin Society (VI SIAQ) and 12th International Conference on Chitin and Chitosan (XII ICCC).

The VI SIAQ and XII ICCC are for the first time organized together, under the responsibility of the Iberoamerican Chitin Society, as proposed during the 11th International Conference on Chitin and Chitosan (Taipei/Taiwan – September/2009) and approved by the General Assembly of the Iberoamerican Chitin Society held in Santiago/Chile during the 5th Iberoamerican Chitin Society (June/2010).

The events will take place from the 2nd to the 5th of September 2012 at Fortaleza, the capital of the Ceará State and one of the most beautiful Brazilian cities, located at the Northeast Brazilian coast.

Fortaleza, also known as the “blue-green seas city”, has an annual average temperature of 30°C and Brazilian people uses to say that in Fortaleza the summer time goes from the beginning to the end of the year. Besides its beautiful beaches, Fortaleza has several historical and touristic attractions to be visited and it is the fifth Brazilian city in terms of population, holding 2.5 million people according to the most recent census (IBGE2010).

The VI SIAQ and XII ICCC aim to be a multidisciplinary international forum engaged to encourage the discussions, interactions and exchanges of the cutting edge advances of the research and knowledge of the chitin science. Thus, the scientific program will cover the most relevant research fields of the chitin science and it will include the participation of prominent international experts, and the oral presentations and posters contributions from the international community.
